Shadow

When I face the sun,
Unseen, it trails behind me
With every stride, tethered
To my footsteps

When the sun goes dim
Shadow comes to light
Murkiness glows
Darkness grows

If I walk toward the Sun
I will not vanquish my shadow
But I will free myself
From its chains
